Aura Personal Styling Weekly Newsletter #32: A Heartfelt Message and a Fun, Fashion Round-Up

Thank you for subscribing. We're thrilled you're here.

Personal Stylist sitting on an arm chairr

If you weren’t able to attend the first one - now’s your chance!

Held over two 45 minutes sessions on 27 & 28 March, you’ll learn how to determine your personal style, dress for your body and create a wardrobe that allows you to get dressed with ease every single day.

Merry March!

We’ve officially entered the 3rd month of 2024.

I am currently in a transitory stage. I am not sure whether to lean into the last few months of pregnancy, start winding down and step back from certain obligations or continue as I have been and carry on building my business.

As a person who likes to plan, set goals and feel like I am working towards something, I’m finding it difficult to know which path to take. Motherhood, birth - it is a big “unknown”.

I acknowledge the incredibly fortunate position I am in to be able to make this decision. I can slow down and lean on the support of my husband if I want to. As someone who is fiercely independent and who hates asking for help, it’s difficult to wrap my head around and relinquish control. I want to contribute financially to our relationship and to have a career. At the same time, it feels futile to do a big marketing push and try and find clients when I am 2.5 months away from giving birth. If you have any advice, I’m all ears.

One thing that is certain, and that has brought me joy on my hardest days, is being able to lean into my personal style, dig into the depths of my wardrobe, play with my clothes and to find pieces that fit. I’ve set myself a 30 challenge Outfit Challenge and 14 days in, I can safely say that personal style is about so much more than clothes.

This next week, I want to encourage you to get dressed, wear an outfit that makes you feel most like you and don’t be afraid to wear your clothes! If you want to get your personal style sorted, let’s chat.

Don’t forget that the doors to our second Style Foundations Master class are OPEN. I hope to see you there! x

A Fun Fashion Round Up

Instead of our usual style principle, we thought we would do a round up of Sample Sales that are on, new brands we’ve stumbled upon and fashion news we’ve loved this past week.

SAMPLE/ARCHIVE SALES

  1. Nelson Made - one of our favourite Australian shoe brands - are currently having their annual Sample Sale. For this weekend only, you can shop some of their timeless styles for nearly 70% off. Their quality is next to none as the brand aims to champion long lasting styles that you can wear for years to come. They even do repairs!

  2. The Posse Archive Sale started this week, with some gorgeous staple style included in the selection. Their Baily Denim Shorts are a perfect cut and wash, as is the Emma Pencil Skirt in Butter Yellow.

  3. Bare - By Charlie Holiday has 50% off their entire collection as the brand looks to close it’s doors. Ethically produced from responsibly sourced materials, we love The Tie Vest,  The Fold Back Trouser and The Asymmetric Maxi Dress. We have shopped from their sister brand and doubt they will disappoint.

NEW BRANDS

  1. Dress Cycle: Dress Cycle sells pre-loved, mid - high end designer pieces over on their Instagram account. With Daily Drops from stunning designers - like Essential Antwerp, Maje, Baum Pfergarten, Ganni, Scanlan Theodore (the list goes on) - we can personally vouch for the quality and service from this small, Australian, female owned business.

  2. Palyltte: Creating colourful and elevated everyday garments, Palytte is a new brand based on the Northern Rivers, NSW. Inspired by the streets of Copenhagen, we love their eclectic pieces and are currently waiting on an order to trial the brand ourselves. Stay tuned!

  3. Katharina Lou: Another eclectic brand with a Scandinavian feel. Melbourne based Katarina Lou makes their garments to order to avoid waste and partners with a female owned, block printing studio in Bangalore to bring their unique prints to life. We haven’t purchased from the brand yet, but we have our eye on this and this. Bold, beautiful and a little quirky, we love how unapologetically fabulous the brand is.

NEWS & VIEWS

  1. Chloe’s 2024 Fall Ready-To-Wear Collection: Admittedly we have a deep obsession and penchant for 70’s fashion and this collection is, if anything, an ode to the 70s. With patchwork denim, soft ruffles paired with contrasting leather and buckles and thigh-high heeled leather boots, we love every look.

  2. Homeroom is our little secret. The founders, Sophie Barker and Annie Carrol, started Homeroom to promote the “Australian fashion ecosystem”. You can take a gander through their carefully curated Journal to find the best white t-shirt, locally made suiting, First Nations designers or size inclusive wedding dresses. If you’re looking to shop the latest trends or to nail the most recent “-core” aesthetic, they’ve probably got an edit for you to scroll through.

The second instalment of our information Style Foundations Masterclass is HERE!

We have made some changes to the original format based on feedback from our first offering. The Masterclass will now be over two evening sessions so that we can dive deeper into the topics we discuss.

In this virtual masterclass, held in two 45 minute sessions, I'll teach you how to:

  1. determine your personal style;

  2. dress for your body;

  3. build a wardrobe that allows you to get dressed with ease and confidence no matter the occasion; and

  4. shop with confidence.

I'll share plenty of other tips and tricks that you can use on your personal style journey.

The first 10 people to purchase tickets will receive a free 30 minute Style Consultation to discuss how they can implement their learnings and achieve their personal style goals.

IN THE KNOW

CONTENT WE’RE LOVING THIS WEEK

#1 WE’RE READING - Angie’s Edit

Angie has been a stylist for over 20 years. She has styled celebrities like Emma Bunton and Eva Longoria, and consulted for global fashion brands. Her Weekly Substack is a selection of timeless items that readers can consider adding to their forever wardrobes.

#1 WE’RE LISTENING TO - French and Saunders: Titting About

Do Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders need an introduction? In this 3 Part, Audible exclusive series the two best friends chat and reflect on their Passions, Holidays and School life.

It’s an absolute joy to listen to.

#3 WE’RE WATCHING - Hart of Dixie

We just love returning to old shows and this week we’ve returned to an oldie but a goodie.

Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) a New York surgeon suddenly finds herself without a fellowship and working on her bedside manner as a GP in the small, Southern town of Bluebell.

With quirky characters, beautiful people, and small town charm, Hart of Dixie is the love child of Gilmore Girls and The OC.

It is a heartwarming, silly little show streaming on Stan. We will be re-watching this 2011 classic over and over again.

The Empower Personal Styling Package includes a Wardrobe Cleanse and Personal Shopping experience. Under our Empower Package, I will:

  1. help you determine your personal style words;

  2. show you how to style the clothes you already own so you can get dressed with ease and confidence;

  3. clean out items that no longer serve you, your lifestyle or style goals; and

  4. help you create a wardrobe that makes getting dressed a fun, empowering and simple process;

  5. help you shop for the missing pieces in your wardrobe and empower you with the knowledge you need to shop with confidence; and

  6. integrate your new pieces into your existing wardrobe so that you can be your best dressed self.

By the end of our sessions, you’ll have a clear understanding of your personal style, wear more of what you own, shop less and reduce those waisted purchases. Most importantly, you’ll feel confident, powerful and be able to get dressed with ease and confidence no matter the occasion.

- WEAR GREEN -

Olive Green is picked to be a trending colour for 2024. It was spotted in a myriad of runway collections and is already popping up in pieces in store (Hello in particular to these gorgeous Trench Coats from Country Road).

Limiting a prompt to a particular shade is too restrictive so this week’s prompts is to “Wear Green”.

Whether you opt of olive green nails to embrace the trend (yes nail polish counts), green pants or a pop of green in your accessories, have some fun embracing nature’s hue this week.
