Style Principle #15: Blend Your Wardrobes

Blending your “wardrobes” will create a variety of outfit options that you never thought possible.

It’s common that we categorise our clothes into different groups for their intended purpose. For example, active wear, casual clothes, office attire and event or formal wear.

Whilst this makes sense for your more formal dresses, relegating your clothes to specific occasions can prevent you from seeing potential outfit options.

Silk blouses or cotton shirts that you may relegate to work wear can be dressed down with jeans and more casual shoes for the perfect “jeans and a nice” top look.

All images show the progression from smart to casual.

A bold maxi dress that you reserve for semi-formal occasions, can be styled with sneakers or a chunky sandal for a brunch, lunch or even a coffee run.

If you’ve recently left a corporate office environment, transition your tailored trousers or suits to your more casual office or lifestyle by pairing them with a t-shirt and sneakers, ballet flats or even slides and a singlet for a “weekend” look.

The same can be said for a shirt and vest combination. When paired with tailored trousers and heels you have a stylish corporate look. Swapping the trousers for jeans and heels for loafers or sneakers instantly makes the look more casual.

By looking at your wardrobe holistically, you’ll find much more versatility in your pieces.

Have a go at mixing and matching your smarter pieces with your casual pieces, and playing with styles and textures. A silk and denim combo is heavenly.

Contrasting textures and designs will add instant style, interest and intrigue to your looks.

The way we dress profoundly affects our confidence. You deserve to look and feel fantastic. Whether you’re trying to take your style to the next level; feel like you’ve lost your mojo or simply want to express yourself in a different way, we'll work closely with you to curate a wardrobe that unlocks your ideal style.

Through our Personal Styling Services, we help you take the guesswork and hassle out of dressing, and make sure you only buy clothes that you’ll actually wear.

IN THE KNOW

CONTENT WE’RE LOVING THIS WEEK

If you have the means to support your local bookshop, please do!

Sally Mils is a script writer for a “legendary late-night TV comedy show”.

When her fellow writer and friend starts dating a gorgeous actress, she decides to write a script about the interesting phenomenon of average-looking men who date accomplish, beautiful women, because, from where Sally’s sitting, the reverse never happens.

Then she meets Noah - a pop star and heartthrob - and her theory is put to the test in real life.

A witty, warm and delicious romantic comedy. We couldn’t put this book down. It’s a lovely read.

One Wednesday in 2020, Ellidy Pullin’s life was turned upside down when a man knocked on her door and told her that her long time partner, Chumpy a world famous, Australian, champion snow boarder, had been found unconscious on the ocean floor. She’d only kissed him goodbye a few hours earlier.

This is her story of heartbreak, grief, and racing against the clock to decide whether she wanted to harvest Chumpy’s sperm to try for the baby they both wanted.

We’ll admit that we weren’t really interested in reading this book, but we are so glad we did. It is a heartbreaking, heartwarming story about the power of love and family and a showcase of incredible strength. Even though we cried almost the whole way through, we couldn’t recommend this enough.

#3 WE’RE WATCHING - Wednesday on Netflix

A TV series by the inimitable Tim Burton, which details Wednesday Adams’ attempts to “master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a killing spree and solve the mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago.”

Dark humour, fantasy, mystery and a brilliant cast, Wednesday is a nostalgic and brilliant watch.

Tim Burton can do no wrong in our eyes and this modern take on an iconic family is incredibly well done.

We can’t wait for season 2!

There is nothing worse than feeling flustered and overwhelmed when you are trying to get dressed for an occasion.

You shouldn’t be dreading spending quality time with friends and family, or celebrating the year’s achievements with colleagues because you can’t find an outfit that makes you feel like your best dressed you.

With our Occasion Styling service, we will help you create the perfect looks for your EOY functions be it awards ceremonies, Friendsmas’, Christmas lunches or even Weddings (guests or brides).

Whether you want to style dresses or suits you already own or shop for something special, we can help you dress the way you want to feel.

It can be fun to push your style boundaries by supporting small, quirky brands.

Gingham Palace is just that sort of brand, albeit their designs are probably not for the feint hearted.

Designed in Europe and hand crafted in Spain, Gingham Palace is on “a mission to make women feel beautiful, stylish & comfortable in the city, the countryside or the beach.

We only recommend brands we have purchased from and can vouch for.

Supporting small, ethical fashion brands is important to us and buying from Gingham Palace felt like purchasing from a friend. Shipping was seamless and we had our set within 10 days (maybe less).

We can’t wait to wear our set out and about.
