ICYMI I am currently growing a tiny human. I’ll be wrapping up all virtual and in-person styling services on 15 April so if you want to work with me before I head on maternity leave, get in touch!

It’s A/W 2024 Trends Time!

Taking cues from Street Style at fashion weeks, creatives, countless articles, my own intuition and an assessment of what’s in store, I hope this Special Edition A/W Trends Newsletter creates some excitement as the weather cools and we bid farewell to Summer.

Putting together this juicy newsy for you made me excited to whip out my trusty trench coat and boots and take stock of my A/W wardrobe, identifying any gaps and assessing which pieces I need to bid farewell to because they no longer fit my personal style and lifestyle.

Keep your eyes peeled for our BONUS shopping guide (coming to you separately) where you can shop our trend predictions and draw inspiration for your Winter outfits.

I’d love to know which trends you love

Have a fabulous long weekend x

There is something special about the change over in stores and online as the Autumn/Winter clothes creep in and Visual Merchandisers work their magic. Some stores do this gradually, one side of a store welcoming richer hues, like cherry red and eggplant purple. Mimicking the changing colours of the leaves, these colder weather styles slowly spill out across the store as they envelop the last of the summer colours making them feel markedly out of place.

With these seasonable colour changes, we welcome new trends.

Engage with the below trends with an inquiring mind.

Ask yourself whether a particular trend really aligns with your style or is one to admire from afar.

See whether you can take inspiration from a trend and breathe new life into a piece you already own by styling it differently.

Make sure any pieces you include in your wardrobe suit your personal style, and align with your style goals.

Considered purchases will allow you to build a wardrobe that will stand the test of time and help you get dressed with ease and confidence.

With that, here are our trend predictions for this Autumn/Winter 2024!

#1 Colours: Berry Reds, Olive Green, Deep Violet, and Grey

Let’s kick things off with the colours of the Autumn/Winter seasons!

It may come as no surprise that red continues to dominate as a colour for 2024. Deliciously, decadent berry reds seem to be taking centre stage, together with dark violet. There is a vampy feel to this A/W 2024 season, which is balanced by ultra feminine details like mesh dresses and tops, bows and crystals (see #4 below).

1. Ballet Flats - Senso; 2. Knit Top - Autumn Cashmere via The Outnet; 3. Trackies - Ruby Corvette Trouser; 4. Leather Bomber - House of Sunny; Sling-backs - Tony Bianco.

Grey is taking centre stage as a wardrobe staple colour of choice - think blazers, wide leg tailored trousers, and knitted jumpers. Opt for a grey pair of jeans or trousers if grey isn’t the best colour for your skin tone, pairing it with a top in a colour that does. Grey looks stunning with most colours. We particularly love a bright red or butter yellow and grey combination.

1. Cardigan - Mango; 2. Column Skirt - Dissh; 3. Tote Bag - Country Road; 4. Trousers - Witchery; 5. Bow Cardigan - Ruby

Green in an olive and sage colourway is also set to be a trending colour, popping up in athleisure pieces (think tracksuit bottoms and sneakers) and outerwear. We particularly love this Nude Lucy Trench and these Adidas Spezial Sneakers.

1. Olive Trench - Country Road; 2. Sneakers - Adidas Spezial; 3. Knit Jumper - Maurie & Eve; 4. Cargo Skirt - St Agni; Olive Pants - Ruby Rue Trouser

#2 Denim

A fabric originally designed for labourers uniforms because of its durability, denim is a staple in anyone’s wardrobe these days and extends far beyond the trusty denim jeans we have come to adore.

From trench coats, to tunics, shirts, skirts, dresses, and even boots (yes, you read that right) denim, particularly in a darker wash and worn as a matching set should be a big trend for A/W 2024.

1. Boots - Charles Keith; 2. Dress - Ganni via The Outnet; 3. Deni Skirt - Viktoria & Woods; 4. Denim Vest - Aligne

#3 Sets

The ubiquitous Summer Set has had an Autumn/Winter glow up and we are thrilled!

Sets are so versatile as the pieces can be worn together or separately. When worn together, the pieces do much of the heavy lifting for you and don’t require too much styling. A tuck here, a necklace stack there and you are good to go! Separate the matching items pairing them with other pieces in your wardrobe for endless outfit options.

Whether you opt for a cozy cardigan and matching knit trousers, a double denim or cotton trackies, there is a Winter set to suit all personal styles.

1. Cream Set - Maurie & Eve; 2. Denim Set - Aligne; 3. Cream and Black Hoodie and Tracksuit - Venroy

#4 Ultra Feminine Details

If you were a girlie girl when you were younger, let your inner child giggle with glee!

Ultra feminine details like ruffles, bows, off the shoulder tops, crystal embellishments and dresses, tops and shoes in sheer fabrics (a carry over from Spring/Summer) offer ways to soften your A/W looks and lean into the “pretty feminine” aesthetic that dominated recent runways.

1. Mesh Top - Ruby; 2. Bow Skirt - Ruby; 3. Embellished Ballet Flats - Tony Bianco; Chocolate Strapless top - Venroy; 4. Mesh Floral Skirt - With Harper Lu 5; Bow Clip - Lovisa; Sheer Dress - Venroy; 6. Peplum Top - Ganni

#5 Shoes: Sneakers and Sling-backs

Dichotomies in fashion are bountiful. This could not be more true when looking at the trending shoes for the cooler months.

On the one hand, the classy and classic sling-back is bound to be everywhere this Autumn Winter as the “pretty feminine” aesthetic reigns supreme. Paired with an off the shoulder top and column maxi skirt or cardigan and tailored trousers for the office, these kitten heeled delights bring an elegant, fierce femininity to any outfit.

On the other hand, life-style runners and court sneakers will continue to be right on trend, adding a casual, sporty feel to any look. For those on the Samba bandwagon, these are safe for another season and have been updated in new colourways. We predict the Adidas Spezial and Gazelles will overtake these as the “trendy” shoe of choice.

For a “grungier” look aligned with the 90s resurgence we’ve seen in street styles and on runways (to some extent), the Nike V2K Run or New Balance 9060s are sure to take off. The former were the sneaker of choice for the London fashion girls.

1. Adidas Originals - Sambas; 2. New Balance 9060s; 3. Veja Volley Court Sneakers; 4. Adidas Originals Gazelles

#6 Outerwear: Oversized Bomber Jackets

The bomber jacket has been re-designed in oversized styles and in a multitude of fabrics like wool, leather, and cotton.

Offering a warm, cozy alternative to a leather or denim jacket, a bomber is a great trans-seasonal jacket to include in your Autumn Winter wardrobe rotation.

With gorgeous and varied designs to suit every style personality - classic, sporty, grunge or structured - this is a trend that feels both practical and stylish and (dare we say it) may be a style that shifts from trend to staple.

1. Grey Wool Bomber - Witchery; Berry Letterman Jacket - House of Sunny; Snakeskin Bomber - Elka Collective; Black PU Bomber - Henne
